Laptop Orchestra

Utilizing audio programming language ChucK, I composed a live-coding piece to be performed by laptop orchestra. Performers launched various carefully designed functions while following the piece’s visual score. The piece invites improvisation with the parameters of the various sound-generating functions in order to create unique undulations in the resulting cloud of sound.
“Before Uncertainty”

I was lucky enough to be asked to compose and perform a patch on the Buchla 100 Analog Synthesizer of the Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments with my friend Gavin Ryan. The polyphonic patch explores the historic synthesizer’s broad range of sound shaping capabilities as we navigate timbral shifts through a unifying soundscape.
