The following selected works have been recorded, mixed, and mastered by Dominic Dimambro.

“I Loves You Porgy”

by Nina Simone

During my undergraduate studies, I had the pleasure of recording, mixing, and mastering Liam Charron (piano) & Aaron Snyder (tenor saxophone) performing a cover of “I Loves You, Porgy,” a song by George Gerswhin and popularized by Nina Simone. The piano was captured by a spaced pair of DPA 4011A’s located at the edge of the piano, pointing at the bridge and C4 key respectively. The microphone of choice for tenor saxophone was a Sennheiser MD 441 positioned in an equilateral triangle with the reed and the bell in order to balance warmth and brightness. Lastly, an X-Y stereo pair of Neumann KM 184’s were placed at a distance to capture the room sound of the recording space.

Nick Trev EP

by Nick Trev

I was fortunate enough to be asked to record, mix, and master the following collection of songs entirely written and performed by Nick Trevisan. Nick’s vocals were captured by an AKG C414 XLS, while his guitar was captured by a stereo spaced pair comprised of an AKG C414 XLS aimed at the 12th fret, and a Cascade Fathead II Ribbon Microphone aimed slightly below the bridge. I am particularly proud of the sound achieved on the songs “When the Good Die Young” and “Forward.” To select a song from the EP, click the playlist icon in the top right of the youtube link.
